North Korea kept a low profile at China’s Belt and Road initiative meeting on May 14.
This comes after United States sent a diplomatic note to China’s Foreign Ministry saying China is sending the wrong message by inviting North Korea to the summit, when the world was trying to pressure Pyongyang to stop its missile and nuclear tests.
North Korea’s delegation to the meeting was led by Kim Yong Jae, minister of external economic relations, according to North Korea’s state run media.
Kim was pictured arriving at the opening ceremony together with White House adviser Matt Pottinger, the U.S. representative to the talks. It is not clear if Kim and Pottinger spoke to each other.
