Vast French Collection of Beatles Memorabilia Sent to Auction

French Beatles aficionado Jacques Volcouve auctioned off his collection of memorabilia in Paris Saturday (March 18).

The collection is one of the largest in France, including nearly 15,000 records, plus photographs, books, dolls, posters, letters from band members, and an “authentic Beatle wig.”

Some of the rarer items included life-sized Beatles coffee mugs, inflatable Lennon and McCartney dolls, and eleven alternate cover photos for the album Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Some of the items came from as a far away as Thailand, Taiwan, and Uruguay.

“Starting from 1967, I gave myself an absolutely impossible mission: own everything concerning the Beatles,” explained the 60-year-old Volcouve. He has letters from band members thanking him for articles he wrote.

He is selling the collection to fund his retirement.
