Venezuela’s Capriles joins protests amidst 15-year ban from political life

Venezuelan opposition leader Henrique Capriles is on the campaign trail. The Venezuelan government’s decision to ban him from political life for 15 years has only spurred him on. Capriles could be seen in the streets among anti-government protesters this week.

He is currently firing up his presidential hopes and pitting himself against current unpopular president Nicolás Maduro. Venezuela has seen economic decline, unrest, and loss of freedoms in Maduro’s tenure as a socialist president.

Capriles was the governor of Miranda State before losing the 2013 presidential election to Maduro.
