UPDATE: Barbara Bush’s funeral was held several days ago. Her gravesite in Houston, Texas, was opened to the public this week, KHOU reported.

“We just felt compelled to come and pay our respects,” said David Parsons. He and his wife traveled to the library from Houston.  “She was who she was. She didn’t put a front on,” said another person. “And the biggest part is that she was kind.”

The site is located behind the George Bush Presidential Library.

And, over the weekend, former President George H.W. Bush was hospitalized with an infection. CNN reported Tuesday that he’s alert and talking, but he’s still in intensive care.

According to spokesman Jim McGrath, Bush was “responding to treatments and appears to be recovering.”

Reports said that he has a blood infection, and was taken to a hospital in Houston.

Barbara Bush, the former first lady, died at the age of 92, according to reports on Tuesday.

Bush was the wife of former President George H.W. Bush and the mother of former President George W. Bush.

ABC News reported that Bush died Tuesday at her home in Houston. Her death was announced by the office of her husband.

“A former first lady of the United States of America and relentless proponent of family literacy, Barbara Pierce Bush passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at the age of 92,” the office of former President Bush said.

“It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others,” the statement added. “She is surrounded by a family she adores and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving.”

In April, the former first lady wrote glowingly of her husband.

“I am still old and still in love with the man I married 72 years ago,” she wrote in the Smith’s College’s alumnae magazine, as reported by USA Today. “I have had great medical care and more operations than you would believe,” she also told the magazine. “I’m not sure God will recognize me; I have so many new body parts!”

She continued: “Also, George Bush has given me the world. He is the best—thoughtful and loving.”
