Handling animals, when they are undergoing treatment in a hospital and recovering post-surgery can be a trying experience for a layman. Read on how this vet goes beyond his role of a surgeon and nurses the pup out of his dilemma.
Our trust in our family doctors is not about their qualifications, but how much they can make us feel comfortable and reassured. The same is true with a veterinarian.
A vets job is perhaps more difficult as the animals are not able to express how they feel. It is difficult for the animals to figure out whether you are helping them or hurting them, especially post-surgery, and especially if their previous experiences with humans have been unpleasant.
Meesha, the female pup, had to be spayed, so she was taken to the vet for the surgery. It was post-surgery that the doctor had to deal with her agitated and perplexed situation.
As she was recovering from anesthesia, she felt quite strange and not being able to control her movements, she felt extremely uncomfortable at the way her body behaved. She whined in fear.
That is when the vet, scooped her up and soothed her with hugs and kisses, cradling her like a baby. The doctor’s kind and caring nature comes through, where he portrays that it is not just the skill, but the human side of a surgeon that makes all the difference. The pup slowly and steadily calms down under his caring and comforting touch.
The human family where the pup “Meesha” was born could not afford to keep all of the unexpectedly large litter. So, with a heavy heart, they had to give Meesha and her brother, Charlie, away to the BARCS Animal Shelter, when they were just six weeks old. They hoped that the little ones would be able to find loving homes for themselves.
Meesha was then adopted by a loving family that decided to give her a better life.
