U.S. Vice President Mike Pence landed at Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea Sunday morning, traveling with his family on his first official trip to Asia.

His visitp is supposed to reassure South Korea and warn North Korea of continuing U.S. support for South Korea, which is currently being run by an interim government after its president was deposed.

North Korea has been exceptionally aggressive in the past two months, launching a variety of missiles into the ocean near Japan.

North Korea’s latest launch was a failed attempt just a few hours before the vice-president landed. That missile exploded almost immediately after lift-off.
