A car that was attempting to overtake a camper van in Nilgen, Western Australia, crashed head-on into a minibus traveling in the opposite direction, according to released by police on Oct. 4.

The Western Australia Police Force said the incident happened on Sept. 25, and that there were no serious injuries. Ten people were on the minibus at the time of the crash, officials said.

The police said that the dashcam footage shows “how a decision to overtake at the wrong time can have serious consequences.”

Neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the crash, police said.

In the video, the car is can be seen in the oncoming lane. The bus driver tries to swerve out of the way, but it was too late.

Other details about the crash are not clear.

The crash occurred on Indian Ocean Drive.

“I have sat by silent on this matter for many years,” Adam Barnard, a tour bus operator, told Perth Now. “And I am acutely aware I could be accused of self-interest, but perhaps it’s time Tourism WA at least considered some action.”

“We need to look at developing a coach tourism strategy, because the incidence of self-drive accidents with inexperienced foreign drivers will unequivocally increase as the number of tourists increase,” he added. “The negative impact on our industry could be catastrophic.”

Police Commissioner Chris Dawson said it is a miracle that people survived.

“The vision quite clearly shows a very inherently dangerous overtaking incident in which there was a collision between a bus and small vehicle,” he said, according to the report. “It is remarkable the driver and two passengers survived that crash and again it is subject to an investigation.”
