A 4-year-old boy was tripped on purpose by a pregnant woman at a restaurant in China and was sent to a hospital, state media reported on Monday, April 23.

The incident happened on April 19 in Baoji city, northwest Shaanxi province.

The pregnant woman sitting by the door was hit by plastic strip curtains when the boy ran into the restaurant, the surveillance video released by state broadcaster CCTV showed.

She then was seen sticking out her leg as if she was planning to trip the boy, but brought her leg back under the table.

When the boy was running the other way, back toward the entrance, the woman put her foot out again and made the boy trip and fall, CCTV footage showed.

The state broadcaster noted that the boy’s parents sent him to the hospital soon after the incident as there was a bruise on the boy’s head.

The report said the boy from a nearby store was rushing into the restaurant to collect some chopsticks for his parents, and exiting with the chopsticks when he was tripped.

The boy’s mother said he has a congenital heart disease but was in good condition and the woman apologized to the family at a police station on April 20, CCTV said.
