Burglars broke into the South African Rugby Union’s offices on Nov. 13, but the William Webb Ellis trophy that the nation won at the Rugby World Cup in France last month was safe, local media reported on Nov. 14, citing union officials.

The burglary took place at the hilltop office complex in Cape Town’s northern suburbs, where the union is among the tenants, a spokesman told Netwerk24.

There were scant details of what had been stolen, but the replica trophy that the Springboks brought home with them from France after edging New Zealand in the final in Paris was safe, the spokesman added.
