Tropical storm Harvey has wrecked havoc in Texas but moments of pure selflessness and heart have been seen across the state.

A touching video posted by Carson Crosby a resident of Lumberton, Texas, on Twitter has gone viral garnering over 24,000 retweets and 66,000 likes just 2 days after it was posted on Aug. 29.

Carson and his brother Travis with neighbors Darryl and Kavan Wise were on their way wading through raging floodwaters when they saw something in the water close by, reports said.

What they say took them by surprise. It was a dog struggling for dear life clinging on to a submerged tree in the current. The dog had been swept by rushing waters caused by Tropical Storm Harvey.

After a second look, the group realized that the dog belonged to another neighbor of theirs.

Without hesitation one of the men in the group donning a red life jacket ties a nylon strap around his waist and jumps into the rushing waters. His colleagues hold the other end of the strap so he does not get swept away by the current.

The man fumbles a bit near the trees where the dog was hanging on to before signaling the group to pull him out.

Just moments later the man emerges from the rushing waters with the dog held firmly by his side. It took several people to tug him out of the dangerous currents but the black and white spotted dog is saved as the group cheer in happiness.

The Twitter post is captioned with”DOG RESCUE This is in Lumberton, Texas, down the street from my mom’s house. That’s my brother in the black shirt.”

According to Fox News, the rescue happened along Beaver Brook Street in Lumberton. One of the witnesses Kavan Wise said the incident occurred after a group of teens tried crossing a bridge on an ATV vehicle but got stuck.

One of the boys then reportedly jumped off the vehicle to push the ATV for the rest of the way when the dog also jumped off to follow him—before getting caught in the fast-moving currents.

Wise said the dog’s collar apparently got caught in some trees, Fox News reported.

According to weather.com the death toll from Harvey climbed up to 33 as of Thursday, Aug. 31.
