Ways & Means GOP Meets With Hungarian Delegation to Oppose Global Tax Plan

Top Republican members of the House Ways and Means Committee met with Hungarian officials and subsequently signaled collective opposition against the Biden administration’s efforts to reach a deal on a global minimum tax of 15 percent on multinational companies. In mid-June, Hungary blocked the EU from accepting the tax. Some Republicans also said Congress will not sign off on the plan, but the Treasury Department remains committed to finalizing a global minimum tax.
