Nominee for Speaker of the House Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) told reporters on Monday that the House of Representatives will hold a floor vote to elect the next speaker on Tuesday—with or without the 217 GOP votes he needs to succeed in getting the position. Earlier on Monday morning, several key skeptics of Mr. Jordan in the Republican Conference announced that they would support him. Mr. Jordan was nominated speaker by House Republicans last Friday, after former nominee Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) dropped out of the race the previous evening.
