While Public Schools See ‘Exodus,’ Christian, Private Schools See Big Enrollment Gains

The last school year was a disaster for many families. Kids were isolated at home, logging into Zoom classrooms; or they attended school onsite, but faced weird new realities like facemasks and plexiglass-framed desks. Many parents also became aware for the first time what their kids are actually being taught.

So with Labor Day around the corner, it seems some parents are making different choices, according to Tony Kinnett, a curriculum developer, educator, and STEM coordinator in Indianapolis, Indiana. He’s also the founder of “Chalkboard Review—an education publication giving parents a window into their children’s education. 

Kinnett has been looking at enrollment numbers, specifically in Indiana and he says he says private schools and Christian schools are gaining students at record rates.
