Wild Strongman Race tests competitors

Germany’s Strongman Race is the world’s biggest obstacle course.

It’s a wild race for wild people—10,00 of them this year, the event’s 10th anniversary.

The 15-mile course sends competitors through 40 tough trials per lap. They cross cold rivers, climb walls, crawl in mud, and balance on floating tree trunks.

The race takes place at Germany’s Nürburgring race track.

South Africa’s Andre Calitz was the fastest man.

He completed the course in 1 hour, 52 minutes and 7 seconds.

“The first lap was fast and pretty furious. The second lap, there were a lot of people but the people were so cool,” Calitz explained. “Everyone just made way and the spectators were cheering us on and the obstacles were really fun. This was amazing. I really hope more South Africans can come.”

German Sara Kamzela topped the ladies with a time of 2 hours, 29 minutes and 11 seconds.

“Yes, I’m super happy. I didn’t expect it,” she said. “I spent four weeks without training and I thought, let’s go, just give it a try. I think just going without a goal, just run, without pressure, that’s what works best.”
