Wildfire southeast of San Diego forces evacuations

A wildfire southeast of San Diego Saturday, May 20, forced hundreds to flee their homes.

Residents in the town of Dulzura were evacuated. Some trailer park residents had time to hitch up their trailers, but some had to leave gear behind.

“I stepped out of the trailer, I saw the smoke just over the hill and we started hitching up,” said Jerry Burns, who lives in an RV park.

“Did not get a chance to grab our generator so we do not have any power. We have no 110 power, we just have the battery power in the trailer,” he said.

By Sunday firefighters had the blaze mostly under control.

Some residents were allowed to go home. The campground and RV park remained closed due to fire damage.
