A recent online petition on Case2 Petition Called “Disney Not to White Wash Mulan” This is after Sony announced that they are planning to shoot a live action version of the film featuring a “mainly chinese” cast, which drove fans to wonder what exactly that meant.
Recently there has a been several movies with asian characters have been accused of white washing, like Ghost in the Shell featuring Scarlet Johansson, the Great Wall staring Matt Damon and Doctor Strange featuring Tilda Swinton. We’re hoping Sony and Disney has learned from these previous production and won’t do the same to Mulan.
