Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe said that all ballots have been counted. Elections data shows that Joe Biden is ahead, although the agency said that it “won’t start getting official numbers from county clerks” until next week, while President Donald Trump’s campaign said they will request a recount.
Speaking on NBC, she said that “all of the ballots have indeed been counted.” Data shows that Biden, the former vice president, is ahead by about 20,000 votes.
“We’re not seeing that there’s any counties that haven’t posted their results on their websites,” Wolfe added.
No news agency has officially called the state for Biden.
Wisconsin, considered a swing state for either candidate, has 11 Electoral College votes. Trump won the state in 2016.
The Wisconsin Elections Commission, in a series of Twitter posts, wrote that the state had “3,684,726 active registered voters on November 1, 2020,” adding that it “has election day registration, which means that the VR numbers some counties report in their unofficial results are not a true indicator [sic] of registration.”
It added: “Remember, the unofficial numbers being reported for Wisconsin come from the news media. The state doesn’t have its own election night system for unofficial results. The WEC won’t start getting official numbers from county clerks til next week.”

Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien wrote that a recount will be demanded.
“Despite ridiculous public polling used as a voter suppression tactic, Wisconsin has been a razor thin race as we always knew that it would be. There have been reports of irregularities in several Wisconsin counties which raise serious doubts about the validity of the results. The President is well within the threshold to request a recount and we will immediately do so,” he said after Wolfe made her statement.
Trump has suggested that he will challenge some of the vote tallies in the Supreme Court.
Earlier, Trump wrote on Twitter that it is “VERY STRANGE” that votes have started to come in for rival Joe Biden after he was “leading, often solidly, in many key States, in almost all instances Democrat run & controlled” on Tuesday night.
Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien told reporters earlier on Wednesday that Wisconsin and other states like it are heading for “recount territory.” The campaign is confident Trump will win Nevada when all “legal ballots” are tallied, he added. “If we count all legal ballots, the president wins,” he said.
The Trump and Biden campaigns are now embroiled in a post-election day battle that could include several other battleground states including Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona, and Michigan.
Biden, after midnight, told supporters that he is “on track to win this election.”
“Be patient—it ain’t over until every vote is counted—every ballot is counted,” Biden said from Delaware. “But we’re feeling good, we’re feeling good about where we are.”
