Wisconsin tornado brought ‘total destruction,’ says sheriff

At least one person was killed and 25 injured when a tornado hit a mobile home park in northwest Wisconsin on May 16.

“I would describe it as total destruction. There’s a whole row where there should be trailers but there’s nothing but debris,” said Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald of Barron County, Wisconsin.

Helicopter video from KSTP-TV shows extensive damage at the trailer park, with several homes reduced to rubble.

The National Weather Service reported the tornado touched down at Prairie Lakes Estates trailer park at 5:30 p.m.

Sheriff Fitzgerald said search crews are still working through Wednesday and the number of people injured will be updated.
