A woman was arrested and charged with the second-degree murder of her boyfriend at their Miami apartment.

Officials say the 26-year-old Courtney Clenney, also known on social media and OnlyFans as Courtney Tailor, was arrested on Wednesday in Hawaii. She was awaiting extradition to Miami-Dade, Florida, to face a second-degree murder charge for allegedly stabbing 27-year-old Christian “Toby” Obumseli on April 3.

On Thursday afternoon, Miami State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced the filing of criminal charges at a press conference.

Fernandez Rundle said Clenney remained jailed in Hawaii while authorities seek her extradition to Florida.

Clenney appeared in a courtroom on Hawaii’s Big Island Thursday, where she waived her right to an extradition hearing and agreed to return to Florida.

Judge Henry Nakamoto ordered her held without bail pending extradition.

Fernandez Rundle characterized Christian Obumseli’s April 3 death at the couple’s Miami apartment as the culmination of a “tempestuous and combative relationship” that began in November 2020. The county medical examiner said in an autopsy report that Obumseli, who worked in cryptocurrency, died from a forceful downward thrust from a blade that went 3 inches into his chest, piercing a major artery.

According to an arrest report, Clenney acknowledged killing Obumseli but said she acted in self defense. She said Obumseli had pushed her and thrown her to the floor, which prompted her to grab a knife and throw it at Obumseli from about 10 feet away. The medical examiner said Obumseli’s wound could not have been caused by a knife thrown from that distance.

“I’m completely shocked, especially since we were cooperating with the investigation and offered to voluntarily surrender her if she were charged,” Clenney’s defense attorney Frank Prieto told the Miami Herald. “We look forward to clearing her name in court.”

Prieto also stated Clenney previously received treatment for substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder at a rehabilitation facility in Hawaii.

A report by Rolling Stone revealed the pair had a history of domestic alterations, what Prieto called a “tumultuous relationship” in which Clenney was a “victim of physical, emotional, and mental abuse at the hands of Obumseli.”

Larry Handfield, the Obumseli family’s attorney, said Obumseli was never taken into custody in each of the four occasions for domestic calls.

Jeffery Obumseli, Christian’s brother, accused Courtney of being granted preferential treatment because of her privilege. “The bottom line is inextricably clear,” he wrote on Instagram. “Courtney is being treated differently because of her privilege as a wealthy White woman.”

“We’ve seen videos of Courtney kissing her dogs while covered in what we believe to be my brother’s blood and casually getting drinks at a hotel bar days later while my brother lays in the morgue,” Jeffery wrote.

“We have a long legal battle ahead of us to ensure justice is served,” the statement concluded. “I need your support. My family needs your support. We cannot do this without community.”
