A Texas woman sued the contractor of a Kroger grocery store for negligence for $200,000 to $1 million after she bashed into a window, thinking it was an open doorway.

The woman, Anna Robb of Montgomery County visited the Kroger store at Marketplace, 341 S. Loop 336 W. in Conroe, Texas on April 17, 2019, when she mistakenly smashed against a floor to ceiling window which she had taken to be an open doorway.

She filed a lawsuit against the contractor in Harris County District Court against LaGrone Services, Ltd., in Houston on June 22, claiming compensation between $200,000 and $1 million in monetary relief, interest, court costs, and all other equitable relief, according to the suit.

According to the lawsuit, Robb suffered several injuries, namely physical pain, suffering and impairment, disfigurement and medical expenses, the SE Texas Record reported.

It also said LaGrone failed to live up to several safety standards, including “to place warning markers on a full-length window.”

Quite a few people would do the same Robb did and would sue the contractor or the franchise, but not everyone shared in Robb’s view.

A Facebook user going by the name of Samantha Guzman shared her vision of the event: “One time I flipped over a concrete ball-shaped thing in front of an office building. Landed on my back and laughed at myself. Did I sue the contractor or building owner? Nope, my own negligence put me in that position. I was looking at my phone. Could I have used a quick payday? Heck yes but I take credit for my own actions.”

Anyway, it’s good to know that there are also considerate people working at or attending your local Kroger store.

Just one month ago, a woman helped a total stranger who was at the end of his wits. It turned out to be a valuable encounter for both.

Woman Helps an Old Man Who Had an Accident in Kroger, Restores His Faith in Humanity

Lisa Lemming Jackson was doing her food shopping on an ordinary August day. She was walking around the isles of the vast store when she made eye contact with an elderly gentleman who was sitting in a mobility cart.

He confided in her that he had been unable to make it to the bathroom on time: “I have colon cancer, and I have had a really bad accident if I get up out of this cart everyone will know … What should I do?”

According to Lisa’s Facebook post, when she saw the old veteran, named Elmer, in so much distress over his indignity, she felt “a lump in [her] throat.”

Luckily, Kroger staff provided them with wet wipes, underwear, and a change of clothes for the elderly gentleman. Then they discreetly allowed him to clean himself and change in the privacy of the staff bathroom.

The biggest surprise to both Lisa and her new friend happened when they got out of the bathroom: They found that the man’s shopping was already bagged up and paid for by another customer.

During a heartfelt conversation, the man told Lisa that he was a war veteran. He said that he had always loved his country but had felt forgotten by it in recent years.

That revelation brought tears to Lisa’s eyes, and she shared with him some of her life’s problems and fears. He, in turn, gave her words of wisdom and encouragement and reckoned that “maybe, after all, humanity still does care about one another.”
