A student from South Korea who was visiting scenic Cuckmere Haven in East Sussex on England’s south coast lost her life while posing for a photo.
Hyewon Kim fell 200 feet after she lost her footing while jumping for a photo that she asked a stranger to take of her while traveling alone to the white cliffs.
“I saw her standing then heard sound of a bang, then she was not there,” Jin Gyeong Jang, who witnessed Kim’s death, told Metro.
A coroner’s report on the woman’s death, which happened on June 22, said she suffered catastrophic injuries and Coroner Alan Craze pronounced her death a “misadventure.”
Kim was in England studying English when the incident happened.

There were signs warning visitors of the instability of the cliffs, which have been known to crumble. In 2014, a former coast guard cottage had to be demolished because the cliff had eroded to within 6 inches of the building.
Town Councilman Craig Williams said it was a unanimous decision from representatives of East Sussex County Council, Lewes District Council, the coast guard, and South Downs National Park Authority not to put up signs in other languages.
“We’ve decided to keep the signs as they are; we felt more would just confuse matters. Instead we’ve tackled this at source,” he said, according to The Sun.
Instead they are talking to bus companies and tour guides who work at the spot about how to warn their customers of the dangers.
