A woman was stabbed to death in Washington, D.C., late Tuesday, Sept. 18, in the Logan Circle neighborhood.
Police officers said the woman was jogging just before 8 p.m. when she was attacked at 11th and O streets in Northwest D.C.
Detectives released footage from a carry-out restaurant near the scene, Asian American Chinese & American Food, that showed the woman stumbling inside after she was stabbed. She died from her injuries in the hospital.
Wendy Karina Martinez was 35 years old according to Fox 5.
The manager of the restaurant heard a scream and saw the woman, who was covered in blood.
“I scared. I don’t know what happened, and I just try to call police,” the manager told NBC. Customers rushed over and tried to help her but to no avail.

Suspects
At least three suspects are being sought by police, including one wearing all black clothing and one wearing a white T-Shirt, white hat, and black pants.
Few violent crimes happen in the Logan Circle neighborhood.
“You have an incident like this—it’s very scary. We haven’t gotten to the bottom to see if this is someone that she knew or exactly what the motive is, but it’s disturbing,” D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said, reported NBC.
Newsham told the Washington Post that there are a lot of cooperative witnesses helping the police. Preliminary evidence indicates that there’s one suspect.
Police are also combing through video surveillance from businesses and homes in the area.

Area Typically Safe
Joggers in the area said that it’s typically safe.
“As a runner, it’s pretty terrifying. You’d think running on lit streets, you would be safe, but that’s mind-boggling,” one woman told NBC.
Another told the Post that the street the woman was stabbed on is part of her so-called safe route, and also noted that she usually runs with a knife.
A man who lives across the street from the restaurant, 47-year-old Mark Glave, said it’s unusual for the area and believes the stabbing was a random attack.
“I don’t see any advantage to walking around terrified,” he said.
