A South Carolina woman was captured on police camera trying to talk a police officer out of being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.
The visibly intoxicated woman was identified as Lauren Elizabeth Cutshaw of Bluffton, according to the NY Post. She allegedly ran through a stop sign while driving drunk at over 60 miles per hour on Aug. 4.
In the video, the 32-year-old woman told police officers that they shouldn’t arrest her because she’s a “very clean, thoroughbred, white girl,” according to the Bluffton Police report and video, while adding that she’s a “pretty girl.”
“I mean I was celebrating my birthday,” she also told the police officer.
Officials in the report wrote that she failed her sobriety test and had more than double the blood alcohol content level for the state of South Carolina.
The woman said she also graduated from “high accredited university,” was in the National Honors Society, had a high GPA, her partner is a police officer, she was a cheerleader, and she had perfect grades her entire life, according to the report.
She also repeatedly asked the arresting officer to “check her record.”
“Making statements such as these as a means to justify not being arrested are unusual in my experience as a law enforcement officer and I believe further demonstrate the suspect’s level of intoxication,” an officer wrote in the police report.
Officer Baker Odom was not moved and he arrested her for speeding, ignoring a stop sign, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving under the influence, the police report said.
