World Bank okays half a billion dollar Afghanistan grants

The World Bank has approved over $500 million in grants to help Afghanistan rebuild and cope with an influx of refugees.

Hopefully the grants will improve the economy and help the country cope with the hundreds a of thousands of refugees returning from Pakistan and Iran. These Afghans fled the fighting, and now want to go home, but have no jobs and nowhere to live. They would be prime candidates for radicalization if let alone.

Another $100 million would support business development for the poor.

The remainder would be used to improve utilities and food supplies.

The developed world has been sending guns and soldiers to Afghanistan for almost 50 years without stabilizing the country. Hopefully investing money will be more effective.
