World Cup Reinstates China Reference for Taiwan

Taiwan accused China of “bullying” Monday.

That’s after organizers of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar added back the China reference for Taiwanese ID cards, after deleting it earlier.

All World Cup ticket holders must apply for the Hayya card used to identify fans, which also doubles as an entry visa.

The island was originally listed as, “Taiwan, Province of China”—terminology that angered Taiwan’s government and many of its people.
