World Economic Forum kicks off in Jordan

The World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa kicked off in Jordan on May 20.

Business, economic, and political leaders from around the world gathered at the Dead Sea.

King Abdullah ll of Jordan and King Felipe of Spain were present. There were 1,000 attendees from over 50 countries.

Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah made opening remarks on the importance of combating extremism and guiding the region’s youth toward tolerance and modernity.

The meeting aims to address continued geopolitical shifts and humanitarian challenges. There will be discussion on the situations in Syria, Iraq and Libya, and the refugee crisis.

The meeting will end on Sunday, May 21.
