The U.N. World Food Program issued an emergency call on April 24.

Millions of civilians trapped by conflict in Yemen face starvation if they don’t get immediate aid.

The World Food Program is mounting three different types of interventions to help people,” said World Food Program (WFP) Yemen Country Director Stephen Anderson.

“However due to funding constraints and access restrictions we are unfortunately not able to help the number of people that we would like to,” he said.

The U.N. WFP has a plan to feed 9.1 million people who might not survive without outside help. To do that, the program needs $2.1 billion which it simply doesn’t have.

After two years of war the country is on the verge of famine.

Iran-backed Houthi rebels battle the Saudi-backed government.

Neither side seems to care about the civilians.
