World War II ended in 1945, but this man is only now receiving medals he earned for his military service. Ninety-one-year-old Joseph Aquilante decided to finally get his medals so he could leave them for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His daughter contacted the senator’s office for help.
U.S. Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) was able to help him recover the medals he never waited around to receive at the time he finished service. The medals include Good Conduct, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, WWII Victory, and Army of Occupation, Japan Clasp.
He served as a member of the United States Army Air Forces.
