Chinese Communist leader Xi Jinping seems to be a step closer to fulfilling his ambitions: having a third term starting next year.

Xi is already 68, and within the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), top leaders at this age are usually expected to step down when their current term ends.

But now, the Party has approved a resolution on its history and so-called achievements, and this is seen as further consolidating Xi Jinping’s power, according to the CCP’s official Xinhua news agency on Thursday.
