President Trump worked closely with the Treasury department to counter threats from China. But how will the department act under President Joe Biden?

Biden’s nominee for Treasury secretary is Janet Yellen. The former federal reserve chair will have to make some big decisions, including what to do with Trump’s tariffs and sanctions against communist China, and how to deal with the national security risks posed by Chinese tech companies.

Yellen has said: “China is clearly our most important strategic competitor. As you said, we need to work with allies. We also need to strengthen our own economy so that we can compete. We need to take on China’s abusive, unfair, and illegal practices.”

It remains to be seen whether the new secretary will keep pressure on the CCP or change course.
