Chinese Children Climb Dangerous Cliff Just To Get To School

One of the greatest gifts a parent can give to their children is education.

Be it formal or informal, young people will likely have a better prospects in future when growing up.

Let’s take a look at what the parents in this mountainous area of China deal with to ensure their children’s education. It’s sure to remind not to take things we have for granted. The daily journey facing the children is filled with danger and obstacles as the village is so cut off from the outside world.

Heart-breaking images have emerged depicting the children, the youngest only 6, climbing the unsecured vine ladders on the side of the steep cliff to get to class.

The schoolchildren are from the aptly named ‘Cliff Village’, sitting atop the 2,624-foot peak in south-west China, the school located just at the foot of the mountain.

The perilous journey takes two hours and they are supervised by parents who use ropes to ensure their safety

An official of Shaojue County said the trip can be extremely dangerous and it had killed around eight residents. Due to the treacherous commute, some of them are simply not permitted to receive education even after coming of age.
