At just over 29,000 feet, Mount Everest’s summit is the tallest in the world. And it’s long been recognized as the most high-profile—if not the most difficult—peak to ascend. Between the cold, the snow, the ice, the lack of oxygen, the steep terrain, and yes, even dead bodies littered around—it’s not for everyone.

But Lucy Westlake isn’t just anyone. While most 18-year-old girls were worried about what prom dress to wear this past May, Lucy was busy braving the elements on Everest while staring down the tallest point on earth.
