The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday that it has frozen and seized more than $580 million in cryptocurrency.

The crypto is tied to so-called “pig butchering” scams conducted by transnational criminal organizations linked to the Chinese Communist Party.

Authorities estimate that Americans lose nearly $10 billion a year to these schemes, or about $27 million a day.
