A dead humpback whale washed ashore on Rockaway beach in Queens. The animal was 25 feet long and believed to be 2 years old. Police installed a security perimeter to keep curious locals at a distance.
The Atlantic Marine Conservation Society will perform a necropsy to determine the cause of death. A bulldozer was brought in to remove the animal.
