President Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., confirmed his engagement to Bettina Anderson, a Palm Beach socialite, at the White House on Dec. 15.
Speaking at the Christmas holiday reception, Trump Jr., 47, addressed guests gathered at the reception after embracing his father.
"I want to thank Bettina for that one word: yes!" he said, drawing laughter from the crowd.
The president's eldest son revealed he was unsure whether his new bride-to-be would actually accept his proposal as he got down on one knee.
“When you go down there, it’s like, you’re going go, and you’re trying to ask, and you’re not sure what the answer’s going to be. It’s always a little bit rough. But she said yes, which is a big win for the end of the year,” he said.
Anderson, 38, also spoke at the event after the announcement, thanking the president and First Lady Melania Trump.
“What a privilege it is to be here at the White House, Mr. President, thank you so much for hosting this incredible party, and to our First Lady, these decorations, am I right, aren't they unbelievable?” she said.
Anderson described the engagement as a milestone moment.
“This has really been the most unforgettable weekend of my life, and I get to marry the love of my life, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!” Anderson added.
The president then leaned in to kiss his future daughter-in-law and offered brief words of encouragement, saying, “Good luck.”
The engagement marks the third for Trump Jr. He was previously married to Vanessa Trump, a former model and actress, for 12 years. The couple, who share five children, divorced in 2018 after Vanessa Trump filed for divorce.
Following that marriage, Trump Jr. was engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, a U.S. television personality and political commentator.
Throughout 2025, Trump Jr. and Anderson have appeared together at several high-profile events.
