Broadway performer and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" actor Josh Grisetti has died at age 44. Actor Rob McClure announced Grisetti's death in an Instagram post on July 12, saying his longtime friend died on July 10.
“My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this. Some of my all-time favorite memories were by this man’s side, playing his brother onstage for years, watching him inspire students while transforming the Musical Theatre program at Cal State Fullerton …and having the honor of being the Best Man at his wedding. Maggie and I are beyond heartbroken. Communities around the world will never be the same without him,” he wrote.
“We love you Josh. Just a cataclysmic loss. Memorial info to come in time,” McClure added.
Grisetti's agent, Rick Ferrari, confirmed his death in a statement to Entertainment Weekly, saying, "I'm absolutely devastated. That's all I can say."
His post included photos of cast members holding his picture and a video saying, "We love you, Josh."
“Literally cried on the plane… little gestures go a long way when your heart is hurting... Love this group of misfits right back!! Happy opening, LEGALLY BLONDE — @trentinomusicfestival!! I’m so proud of you all. Knock their pink socks off!!,” he said.
Grisetti appeared in eight episodes of the fifth and final season of Prime Video's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, portraying comedy writer Ralph on "The Gordon Ford Show."
On Broadway and on national tours, Grisetti performed in productions including Something Rotten!, Beauty and the Beast, Matilda, Ragtime, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.
Grisetti also appeared in episodes of "The Good Fight" and "Nurse Jackie." His screen credits include the television movie "The Superagent" and the television pilots "Like Magic" and "The Gates." His film credits include "The Immigrant" and "Public Interest," and he had roles in "Men in Black 3" and "Revolutionary Road," according to IMDb.
He also taught musical theater at California State University, Fullerton, where his friend McClure said he inspired students while helping lead the university's musical theater program.
Grisetti was born in Washington and is survived by his wife, Mackenzie.
