Moon Jae-in appears to be winning South Korea’s special presidential election. Exit polling by three major TV stations show liberal candidate leading his conservative opponent Hong Joon-pyo 2-to-1.

Voting continued until 8 p.m. local time and official results won’t be available for several hours.

The election replaces ousted president Park Geun-hye, who was impeached and arrested for influence-peddling.

Conservatives have ruled South Korea for a decade.

Moon could usher in major changes in political policy. He promises engagement with North Korea.
