MPs Warn Against UK’s Reliance on China for Critical Minerals

MPs are warning that the U.K. has been left vulnerable over its dependency on China for critical minerals—minerals used to make everyday items such as smartphones and electric car batteries.

There’s also a less talked-about threat from cellular internet of things (IOT) modules, which gather data from products such as security cameras and smartwatches. NTD discussed this with former British diplomat and China analyst Charles Parton, who explained just how vulnerable the U.K. is in the face of China’s large-scale deposits and highly developed processing capacity.
