California Law to Ban Restaurant Surcharges Starting in July

California’s ban on “junk fees” is getting its restaurant industry worked up. Could restaurant surcharges be a thing of the past? This comes after fast-food workers received a minimum wage of $20 per hour. 

Surcharges could be counted as “junk fees,” which are now banned as part of California’s SB 478 for transparent pricing. SB 478 takes effect on July 1 across California.
