The U.S. Federal Reserve held interest rates steady on Wednesday but stiffened its hawkish stance, with another rate increase projected by the end of the year and monetary policy kept significantly tighter through 2024 than previously expected.
The central bank has recently signaled that it intended to wait for more data to understand how the economy is being impacted by previous rate hikes.
The Fed has lifted interest rates 11 times since March of last year. It has also held them steady twice.
