Three Northern York Regional police officers were killed in a shooting on Wednesday in southern Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

Two other officers were injured and remain in critical but stable condition, Col. Christopher Paris said during a press conference.

The shooter is dead. There is no longer an active threat to the community, Paris said.

Pennsylvania State Police provided the update at WellSpan York Hospital on the officer-involved shooting in the area of North Codorus Township.

Authorities declined to release further details on the shooting.

The Spring Grove Area school district issued a shelter-in-place order, but noted that schools and students were not involved in the shooting. The order was lifted later in the afternoon. The district said it was advised by authorities to shelter in place as a precaution while several roads were closed.

Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed that federal agents arrived at the scene of the shooting to assist in the investigation.

“The<a href="https://x.com/FBI"> @FBI</a> and<a href="https://x.com/ATFHQ"> @ATFHQ</a> are on the scene supporting local law enforcement following the shooting of multiple police officers in York County, Pennsylvania,” Bondi <a href="https://x.com/AGPamBondi/status/1968430529033773295">wrote</a> on X. “Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved.”
