President-elect Donald Trump’s Truth Social has gained a new user: Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.).

Fetterman joined the social media platform in November, according to his profile, making him one of a handful of prominent Democrats to take the plunge.

Publishing his first “truth” on Dec. 10, the senator took aim at what he characterized as two cases of weaponized justice.

“The Trump hush money and Hunter Biden cases were both [expletive], and pardons are appropriate,” Fetterman wrote. “Weaponizing the judiciary for blatant, partisan gain diminishes the collective faith in our institutions and sows further division.”

President Joe Biden took heat from both the right and left over his recent decision to pardon his son for federal tax and gun crimes. Fetterman, however, has publicly defended the move and the president’s claims that his son was politically targeted.

The senator has also recently denounced Trump’s conviction in New York on falsification of business records charges as another case driven by politics. But that position appears to mark a departure from comments Fetterman made earlier this year criticizing Trump amid the trial.

Fetterman’s turnabout on the case was welcomed on Truth Social, where his post received more than 10,000 likes and several appreciative replies.

“While I disagree that Hunter and Trump’s cases are equally political, I applaud you for recognizing Trump’s prosecutions were illegitimate,” one user wrote. “If more of your Democrat colleagues were willing to dissent from party opinion, Congress would be more respected in general.”

Others echoed that sentiment, challenging Fetterman’s conclusions about Hunter Biden’s prosecution but praising his willingness to engage with those across the aisle.

Trump launched Truth Social in 2022 after he was banned from other major social media platforms following the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach. The application was designed as an alternative to Twitter, now X, and operates in a similar fashion.

Although Truth Social’s user base is largely conservative, Fetterman is not the first prominent Democrat to join the platform. California Gov. Gavin Newsom boasts a following of 251,000 on the website, and Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign maintained an active presence there up until the November election.
