U.S. authorities on June 4 released footage showing a Haitian wooden boat carrying 240 migrants heading north toward the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Authorities said the "overcrowded vessel" was "in danger of sinking" as it attempted an "illegal maritime migration."

The May 31 footage shows the overcrowded boat taking on water after losing an engine.

All 240 migrants—including 191 men, 44 women, and five minors—were safely rescued before the vessel could sink, and were taken into custody by Turks and Caicos Islands authorities.
