In a surprising bipartisan move, 128 Democrats, including Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), voted with Republicans to table an impeachment resolution against President Trump. Introduced by Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), the resolution accused Trump of violating the War Powers Act by failing to seek congressional approval for recent U.S. strikes on Iran. Green, supported by figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), argued the strikes warranted impeachment.

On a separate front, the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is holding a hearing today, June 25, to examine the risks of AI being exploited by foreign adversaries, particularly China. The committee’s chairman and ranking Democrat recently proposed legislation to safeguard AI research from falling into the hands of regimes like the CCP.

Lawmakers are expected to discuss how AI could be used to bolster authoritarian regimes and undermine free nations. The hearing will underscore the need for the U.S. to lead in AI innovation to counter foreign misuse and protect global democratic values.
