Iran launched more missiles at Israel and U.S. bases as war in the Middle East enters a sixth day. Israel announced multiple incoming attacks early Thursday and said it was intercepting the missiles.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it began new strikes against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah Terrorist group in Lebanon.

A U.S. submarine sank an Iranian warship in international waters, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said Wednesday.

U.S. Senate Republicans on Wednesday rejected a war powers measure demanding congressional approval before further attacks. A twin House bill faces the same long odds in the Congress.

<h2>Israel’s Military Says It Struck Hezbollah Command Centers in Beirut</h2>
Israel’s military said Thursday it struck additional command centers of the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

“A short while ago, the Israeli Air Force completed a wave of intelligence-based strikes in Beirut against several command centers belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” read a statement by the military.

It added that among the targets was a command center used by Hezbollah’s aerial unit. The command centers were intended to be used by Hezbollah to attack Israeli military personnel and civilians, the military said.

Airstrikes were heard throughout Beirut on Thursday, though it wasn’t clear immediately what was hit.
<h2>Iran Claims Attack on US Tanker in Persian Gulf</h2>
Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard claimed an attack Thursday on an American oil tanker in the northern reaches of the Persian Gulf.

The statement read on Iranian state television did not elaborate, but may be linked to an attack off the coast of Kuwait earlier in the day in which a tanker was targeted, according to a report from the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center.
<h2>Iran’s Foreign Minister Says US Will ‘Bitterly Regret’ Sinking of Iranian frigate</h2>
Iran’s foreign minister said Thursday that America “will come to bitterly regret [the] precedent it has set” after a U.S. submarine sank an Iranian frigate off the coast of Sri Lanka.

The comment by Abbas Araghchi represents the first time the Iranian regime acknowledged the sinking of the IRIS Dena in the Indian Ocean.

Araghchi made the comment on X, saying “the U.S. has perpetrated an atrocity at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran’s shores.”

“Frigate Dena, a guest of India’s Navy carrying almost 130 sailors, was struck in international waters without warning,” he wrote. “Mark my words: The U.S. will come to bitterly regret (the) precedent it has set.”
<h2>Israel Launches ‘Large-Scale Wave of Strikes Against Infrastructure’ in Tehran, Military Says</h2>
Israel’s military said Thursday morning it had begun a “large-scale wave of strikes against infrastructure” in Iran’s capital, Tehran.
<h2>Pentagon Identifies Last 2 of 6 Soldiers Killed in Iran War</h2>
Pentagon has identified the last two of six soldiers killed in the Kuwait drone attack.

The soldiers identified were Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, 54, of Sacramento and Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa.
<h2>Qatar Evacuates Residents Near US embassy as precaution</h2>
Qatar’s Interior Ministry said Thursday that authorities were evacuating residents near the U.S. Embassy in Doha as a temporary precaution.

No further details or threats were immediately reported.

Since the start of the U.S.–Israel war with Iran, American diplomatic missions across the Middle East have faced heightened threats, closures and evacuations as Iranian missiles and drones have targeted or prompted alerts at U.S. embassies and consulates.
<h2>Senate Rejects Measure Aimed at Blocking Trump’s Iran War Operation</h2>
A measure that would block the president’s ability to wage war against Iran without congressional approval failed to advance in the Senate on Wednesday, a victory for the Trump administration.

The procedural vote over the war powers resolution, which was introduced by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), was 47 to 53.

The vote came five days into the United States and Israel’s attacks on Iran, leading to a war that has impacted much of the Middle East. President Donald Trump said he launched the attack to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

<h2>White House Says Trump Spoke to Kurdish Leaders About US Bases in Iraq</h2>
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about reports that Trump had a conversation with Kurdish leaders in Iraq and has sought military support for Iranian Kurdish groups.

“He did speak to Kurdish leaders with respect to our base that we have in northern Iraq. But as for any report suggesting that the president has agreed to any such plan is completely false and should not be written,” Leavitt said.
<h2>Power Outage Hits All of Iraq</h2>
The electricity ministry said Wednesday the national power grid has “completely shut down across all Iraqi provinces.”

The cause was not immediately clear. Officials said crews were working to restore power stations and transmission lines.

Outages had already hit the semi-autonomous Kurdish region after a key gas field halted operations over security concerns. Iraq’s oil ministry also said Tuesday it stopped production at a major field near Basra, citing a tanker shortage in the Persian Gulf amid the conflict.
<h2>US Says Iran Is Firing Fewer Ballistic Missiles, Drones</h2>
The chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff says the number of ballistic missiles fired by Iran is down by 86 percent from Saturday, with a 23 percent drop in missiles fired in the last 24 hours.

“And their one-way-attack drone shots are down 73 percent from the opening days,” Caine said.

But some experts have said Iran may be holding some weapons in reserve to prolong the conflict.
<h2>Hegseth Says War With Iran Could Last 8 Weeks</h2>
U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Wednesday that the United States is winning its war against Iran “decisively, devastatingly and without mercy.”

Speaking from the Pentagon’s briefing room, Hegseth said more forces, including jet fighters and bombers, will soon arrive in the region.

The War Secretary says the timeline could go further than previously speculated.

“You can say four weeks, but it could be six, it could be eight, it could be three,” he says. “Ultimately, we set the pace and the tempo.”

He said that the U.S. “will take all the time we need to make sure that we succeed.”
<h2>Sanchez Responds to Trump: Spain Says “No to War”</h2>
Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has responded to President Donald Trump’s threat to cut off trade with his country due to its stance on the war with Iran.

In a clip released by his office today, Sanchez maintained that when it comes to the current conflict, Spain’s position has been “clear and consistent” and in line with stances taken on wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

“The position of the Spanish government can be summarized in these words: no to war,” he said.

Yesterday, during an Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump had criticized Spain’s stance on the conflict, calling it “terrible.” “We’re going to cut off all trade with Spain,” Trump said.
<h2>US Submarine Sinks Iranian Warship</h2>
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth says a torpedo from a U.S. submarine sank an Iranian warship.

In a Pentagon briefing on Wednesday, Hegseth said that the Tuesday night strike on an Iranian warship was the first such attack on an enemy since World War II.

“An American submarine sunk an Iranian warship that thought it was safe in international waters,” Hegseth said. “Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo.”
<h2>Turkey Says NATO Destroyed Iranian Missile Headed Towards Its Airspace</h2>
NATO air defense units intercepted and destroyed an Iranian missile that was heading toward Turkish airspace, according to a statement released Wednesday by the Turkish president’s office.

“A missile launched from Iran, passing through the airspace of Iraq and Syria, and heading toward our airspace from the Hatay region, has been destroyed by NATO air defense systems,” the statement from the Turkish presidency’s office said.

Officials added that debris from an interceptor missile landed in an open area in southern Turkey, and no casualties or injuries were reported.

The incident is thought to mark the first instance since the outbreak of the Middle East conflict over the weekend that NATO has shot down an Iranian missile en route to the airspace of one of its member states.
<h2>Israel Says Whoever Is Chosen as Iran’s Next Supreme Leader Will Be ‘A Target for Elimination’</h2>
Israel’s defense minister on Wednesday threatened whoever Iran picks to be the country’s next supreme leader, saying he will be “a target for elimination.”

“Every leader appointed by the Iranian terror regime to continue and lead the plan to destroy Israel, to threaten the United States and the free world and the countries of the region, and to suppress the Iranian people—will be a target for elimination,” he wrote.

Israel targeted a building on Tuesday associated with Iran’s Assembly of Experts, which will select the new supreme leader.

Israel killed the 86-year-old Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a strike Saturday that started the war.
<h2>Sinking Vessel Is One of Iran's Newest Warships</h2>
The Iranian vessel that was sinking off Sri Lanka, the IRIS Dena, is one of Iran’s newest warships.

The frigate was the centerpiece of a two-ship international tour in 2023 that included port calls in countries including South Africa and Brazil. It was accompanied by the support ship IRIS Makran, a converted oil tanker.

The U.S. Treasury Department included both ships on a sanctions designation in February 2023, along with eight executives of an Iranian drone manufacturer that supplied the weapons to Russia for use against civilian targets in Ukraine.
<h2>Israeli F-35 Shoots Down Iranian Fighter Jet Over Tehran</h2>
An Israeli F-35 fighter jet shot down an Iranian YAK-130 fighter jet over Tehran, according to the Israeli military, marking the first time the fifth-generation stealth jet has downed a manned enemy aircraft.

The Iranian Air Force is made up of aging Soviet and American fighter jets. The YAK-130 “Mitten” is a subsonic two-seat trainer and light combat aircraft that is no match for the modern F-35I.
