Maine's Democratic Congressman Jared Golden has issued a statement advocating for former President Donald Trump's inclusion on the ballot until proven guilty of insurrection. Despite his prior vote to impeach Trump, Golden emphasized the importance of upholding the nation's commitment to the rule of law.

NTD spoke to political strategist Raven Harrison to determine what constitutional concerns could be involved in barring a candidate for a crime they have neither been charged with nor convicted of.

"These political persecutions are not choice: they are tantamount to tyranny," she said. "We have got to follow the constitution as it was written. He has not had due process, he has not been convicted of a crime. So trying to remove him from the ballot under this guise is premature and unconstitutional."
