In this episode of Bay Area Innovators, host Steve Ispas sits down with Joette Calabrese, founder of The Academy of Practical Homeopathy, to explain how homeopathy works, why scientists and skeptics dismiss it, and why millions of families in Europe, India, and the United States still use homeopathic remedies today.

Calabrese breaks down the founding principle of cures, such as how homeopathic remedies are prepared through repeated dilution, and how homeopathy differs from herbal medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. She shares her own path from conventional medicine to homeopathy, the years she spent observing clinics in Kolkata, India, and why she now teaches families rather than practitioners.

The conversation does not avoid the criticism. Steve raises the placebo objection directly, and Calabrese offers her response. She also discusses the history most Americans never learned, including the roughly 100 homeopathic hospitals operating in the United States before the 1940s, and the role she believes market forces and patent law played in homeopathy’s decline in American medicine.
