Meta has tapped President Donald Trump’s former advisor to serve as its new president and vice chairman, marking the latest in a series of changes that leverages deeper ties with Washington.

Trump on Monday praised Meta’s decision to tap Dina Powell McCormick for the role.

McCormick previously served as Trump’s deputy national security advisor in his first administration.

“Congratulations to DINA POWELL MCCORMICK, WHO HAS JUST BEEN NAMED THE NEW PRESIDENT OF META,” the president <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115882511750475574">wrote</a> on Truth Social. “A great choice by Mark Z!!! She is a fantastic, and very talented, person, who served the Trump Administration with strength and distinction!”

McCormick previously served on Meta’s Board of Directors before resigning only eight months later in December 2025.

She will lead the management team and help guide the company’s overall strategy and execution, the company said in announcing her new role.

Meta, Facebook’s parent company, is accelerating investments in frontier AI and personal super-intelligence.

According to founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, she will partner with the compute and infrastructure teams to ensure those multi-billion-dollar investments are executed.

The move comes as Zuckerberg has been seeking the president’s support to build data centers and energy capacity for the major investments.

Just last week, the company said it hired former Trump trade adviser C.J. Mahoney to lead its legal team. Mahoney replaced general counsel Jennifer Newstead who served in former President Joe Biden's administration.

Meta also scrapped its fact-checking program, promoted Republican Joel Kaplan as the new chief of global affairs and ended its diversity programs.

McCormick previously worked as assistant secretary of state for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice under President George W. Bush. Most recently, she served as vice chair, president, and head of global client services at BDT & MSD Partners.

She brings more than 25 years of experience in global finance, national security, and economic development.

Her experience also includes 16 years at Goldman Sachs, in which she led several of the firm’s economic development initiatives.

“Dina’s experience at the highest levels of global finance, combined with her deep relationships around the world, makes her uniquely suited to help Meta manage this next phase of growth as the company’s President and Vice Chairman,”  Zuckerberg <a href="https://about.fb.com/news/2026/01/dina-powell-mccormick-joins-meta-as-president-and-vice-chairman/">said</a> in a statement.

McCormick is married to Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Penn.) who took to social media and <a href="https://x.com/DaveMcCormickPA/status/2010723349211869556?s=20">congratulated</a> his "incredible" wife on all her accomplishments.
