The order states that maintaining such a department is wasteful and ineffective and that closing the department "would provide children and their families the opportunity to escape a system that is failing them."

Sirens sounded in Israel today after rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip in what could be the first such attack from Hamas since the fighting resumed. Shortly afterward, the Houthis in Yemen also fired a missile toward the country.

U.S. officials are set to hold separate meetings with representatives from Ukraine and Russia on Monday. The two countries have agreed to a partial truce, with the details still to be worked out.
