President Trump spoke at a banquet in Beijing on Thursday, offering a toast and emphasizing themes of mutual respect, stability, and the relationship between the two nations. The president ended the toast with an invitation to regime leader Xi Jinping and his wife to a visit to the White House on September 24th. The banquet follows a meeting between the two leaders which focused heavily on Iran and security in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as discussions on trade and fentanyl trafficking.

The Senate confirmed Kevin Warsh in a 54-45 vote as the 17th chairman of the Federal Reserve. Warsh will replace Jerome Powell, whose term ends on Friday. During his confirmation hearing last month, Warsh told Senators he would not allow political pressure to influence monetary policy decisions. He is also expected to chair his first Federal Open Market Committee meeting in June.
